Parag Jain is the head of India's intelligence agency 'RA'

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Parag Jain has been appointed as the new chief of the Research and Analysis Wing of India's intelligence agency. He replaces the previous chief Ravi Sinha, whose tenure ended on June 30. Earlier on Saturday (June 28), the appointment committee of the Union Cabinet of India approved the name of Parag Jain.

Parag Jain has taken over as the head of Raw from July 1. He will hold the post for two years. He was an officer of Punjab cadre of 1989 batch.

Parag Jain, known as the 'Super Sleuth' in detective circles, is known for his ability to combine technical and human intelligence. It is for this skill that he has been appointed to lead the country's most important intelligence agency.

Prior to ``Ro'', he served as the head of the Aviation Research Center of India. One of his notable contributions in recent times was 'Operation Sindoor'. In this campaign, he led missile attacks on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation lasted only 25 minutes.

The operation was made possible by years of intelligence gathering, pinpointing specific targets and building a diligent network, sources said.

Parag Jain is known as an organized and intelligent police officer. He has served in various important positions during his career. In January 2021, he was promoted to the post of Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, though he was then on central deputation.

He also had important responsibilities regarding Pakistan during the withdrawal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 and during 'Operation Balakot'.

He was considered for the equivalent post of Union DGP for his contribution to the national security framework. He has also served as a representative in the Indian Embassies in Canada and Sri Lanka.
